Application of DOT-MORSE coupling to the analysis of three-dimensional SNAP shielding problems
The use of discrete ordinates and Monte Carlo techniques to solve radiation transport problems is discussed. A general discussion of two possible coupling schemes is given for the two methods. The calculation of the reactor radiation scattered from a docked service and command module is used as an example of coupling discrete ordinates (DOT) and Monte Carlo (MORSE) calculations
The Nature of Tribromosalicylanilide Photoallergy
Three patients with photoallergy to 3,4',5 tribromosalicylanilide (TBS) following the use of a germicidal soap were studies to determine the mechanism of their photoallergy. None of these subjects had undergone previous patch or photopatch testing. Duplicate patches of purified TBS and its photoproducts 4', 5 dibromosalicylanilide (DBS). 4' monobromosalicylanilide (MBS), and salicylanilide were applied to the skin of the back. One set of patches was irradiated using a source of long ultravoilet whereas all ultraviolet radiation was regorously excluded from the second set. In one patient the results were consistent with a plain contact allergy to the photoproducts DBS and MBS. In a second patient irradiation of any of the three brominated salicylanilides resulted in a reaction whereas no reactions were observed in the dark. A free radical mechanism may be responsible for the formation of the complete antigen in this patient. In the third patient both mechanisms appeared to coexist. Reactions to commercial-grade TBS did not differ from those obtained with pure TBS

Using Commitment as a Tool to Promote Behavior Change in Extension Programming
Social marketing is an approach used to encourage behavior change among a specific target audience. Social marketing offers a number of tools, and Extension programming that targets behavior change could improve outcomes by incorporating the commitment tool. Commitment has been effective in natural resources campaigns that encourage sustainable behavior change. This article discusses the concept of commitment and different ways that this social marketing strategy can be used to promote behavior change through Extension programming
Addressing the Challenges of Uncertainty Affecting Last-Mile Distribution in Disaster Relief
The study of Disaster Relief has received increasing attention for the better part of 20 years, and particularly in the wake of high-visibility storms like Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, there is little need to provide justification for the field as an area of interest. This presentation will summarize an ongoing effort to study one particular aspect of Disaster Relief, namely last-mile distribution in the face of uncertain supply. This body of work forms the bulk of my dissertation which I completed last year along with my co-author and mentor Dr. Emmett Lodree, a full Professor at the University of Alabama
